do you know what that means....
So we all know i shop at estate sales,flea markets,garage sales and THRIFT STORES...there has been many times when i put fabric flowers in the kits and make something fun and i always get the question where do you find all that old stuff...well i shop allot at all those places...but not just fabric...i look at old shirts...dresses...sheets...table clothes pretty much anything that can be cut up..lol..in my next on line class {vintage love} i will take you on a field trip with me to my local thrift store and show you everything i look for..{that will be fun}...but for today here is a VERY simple fabric valentine banner i made for my living room using a old mens shirt,a sheet and some old fabric...
Gather your fabric of what you want to use...and then cut out some good size pieces and IRON them..so there nice and flat when you go to cut them into your size...
see all nice and flat...
now trim all your fabric to the size you want i did 5x8 {6 pieces}
see all nice and cut...
now snip the ends to create the banner i cut one and then used the extra cut piece as my template for the other pieces
all cut now lay them out how you want them...
i LOVE doilies...I just folded them in half and placed the fabric in the fold {this gives it more stability {do this for each one}
now if you DO NOT want to sew the banner together you can just place the trim down and glue each banner piece to it on the back side of the banner i recommend a fabric glue if your going to go the no sew route... if you are going to sew take a piece of trim and pin it to each end piece for your hanging part..
now just run these through your sewing machine one at a time feeding them one right after the next...this creates the banner...paper is fun to do this with also...and your done...i know banners are nothing new...BUT i wanted you to think outside the box when it comes to fabrics...it is not only a fabric store where you can get some of the best stuff....
i hand cut a couple fabric hearts and used a stick pin and placed them at each end...{it covered the extra stitching for the hanging tabs...
so do you want a banner kit...I will draw a name tomorrow for one...sound good...i can do one in any color scheme..{as i have a TON of fabric}.....
I'd love one in blacks and creams for my scrap loft! Pick me!!!
